Go therefore
Two languages three scripts
This was a retirement gift for a dear friend and colleague. The shape is a traditional symbol for the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Scripture in English on the outer ring is repeated in the inner rings, but in the Tai Dam language, which has three writing systems using the Latin, Lao, and Tai Viet scripts. My apologies for the quality of the Lao calligraphy. I had designed type for Lao before, but this was my first attempt at writing it very small with a pen.
I must give thanks and credit to the Python programming language and DrawBot. The design was prototyped and planned out programmatically in order to fit the four texts as well as possible. Without that help the design and calculations of the circles would have been a long and painful process.
